USD/JPY Hits 163.81, New 40-Year High as Yen Decline Continues

USD/JPY surged to 163.81 on Friday, reaching a fresh 40-year high. Repeated warnings of possible intervention have failed to stem the yen's slide amid broad dollar strength.

USDJPY

The dollar-yen pair climbed to 163.81 on Friday, setting a new 40-year record. The Japanese yen continues its relentless decline despite repeated verbal warnings from officials about possible currency intervention.

The move is driven by a broad strengthening of the US dollar, as market expectations for higher-for-longer US interest rates persist. No actual intervention has been confirmed to date.
