A pseudonymous defendant, John Doe 33, has submitted a motion to the New York Supreme Court seeking dismissal of a lawsuit involving 39,069 inactive Bitcoin addresses. The case was filed on March 11 by Noah Doe and two Wyoming-based companies, ABC Company and XYZ Company.
According to court documents, the plaintiffs argue that the coins associated with these addresses constitute abandoned property and request legal ownership rights. The addresses in question collectively hold roughly 3.799 million BTC. Among them are wallets publicly linked to Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto and the address 1Feex, which has been associated with the 2014 Mt. Gox exchange hack.
The court's decision on the dismissal request is pending.
