Paris Startup C12 Unveils Pick & Place Tech for Carbon-Nanotube Quantum Processors

C12's new Pick & Place method enables micrometer-precision transfer of single nanotubes onto silicon chips, allowing pre-testing and selection of nanotubes before integration. The company says it assembled 50 devices in the past four weeks, compared to an entire year in 2025.

Paris-based startup C12 has introduced a proprietary Pick & Place technology for high-precision manufacturing of quantum processors based on carbon nanotubes.

The method transfers individual nanotubes onto silicon chips with micrometer accuracy in vacuum or inert atmosphere. A key feature is the ability to test and select nanotubes before they are integrated into the chip, directly addressing variability in qubit characteristics — a major challenge in quantum hardware.

According to the company, after optimizing and partially automating the process, engineers assembled 50 devices over the last four weeks. For context, producing a similar number of components took the entire year of 2025.
