Fed Preview: Divided Hold Expected After Warsh Debut, Mixed Inflation Signals

The Federal Reserve is expected to hold rates steady at the upcoming meeting, but with a divided committee. Kevin Warsh's first FOMC meeting comes amid mixed inflation data and rising energy prices due to renewed Iran tensions.

The Federal Reserve's next policy decision is shaping up to be a divided hold, according to the latest preview. The June FOMC meeting marks the debut of Kevin Warsh, whose first vote will be cast against a backdrop of conflicting inflation signals.

On one hand, the re-escalation of the conflict in Iran has pushed energy prices higher, adding to upside inflation risks. On the other hand, broader price pressures remain mixed, leaving the committee split on the appropriate path forward.

Market participants are bracing for a status-quo outcome on rates, but the accompanying statement and dot plot could reveal deepening divisions among policymakers.
