WTI Eases on Profit-Taking After 6% Surge, Middle East Tensions Limit Losses

West Texas Intermediate crude oil edged lower on Friday as traders booked profits following a 6% rally, but escalating conflict in the Middle East is underpinning prices due to supply risks near key shipping routes.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil slipped on Friday as market participants locked in gains after a 6% surge the previous session. Despite the pullback, the broader trend remains supported by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

The expanding conflict around the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb strait raises supply disruption concerns, limiting downside for oil prices. Bulls are testing the 100-day simple moving average (SMA), with momentum indicators pointing higher.

Traders will watch for further escalation in the region, as any disruption to tanker traffic could tighten supply quickly.
