USD/CAD Falls to 1.4180 on Weak US Jobs Data
The Canadian Dollar strengthened against the US Dollar after much weaker-than-expected US employment data pressured the greenback, pushing USD/CAD to a one-week low of 1.4150 before settling at 1.4180.
The Canadian Dollar advanced on Thursday as disappointing US labor market data weighed on the US Dollar. USD/CAD dropped to 1.4150, its weakest level in over a week, before recovering slightly to trade at 1.4180, down 0.26% on the day.
The move followed a much weaker-than-expected US employment report, which fueled speculation that the Federal Reserve may slow its tightening pace. No specific numbers were provided in the initial release.
Traders now await further US economic data and any comments from Fed officials for near-term direction. The Canadian Dollar remains sensitive to commodity price moves and domestic growth figures.
