Trump Iran Deal Proposes $300B Fund, Oil Sales During Talks

A proposed US-Iran deal under Trump includes a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran, with oil sales permitted during a 60-day negotiation period. White House defends the pay-for-performance structure linked to Iran's compliance on nuclear and security issues.

A new framework agreement between the US and Iran, advanced by the Trump administration, could unlock major economic benefits. The proposed deal includes a $300 billion reconstruction and investment fund for Iran, with more than half of that amount already reportedly committed by international investors. The fund would target energy, transport, logistics, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects.

Under the terms, the US would allow Iranian oil sales during a 60-day negotiation period, while sanctions relief and the release of frozen Iranian assets would be contingent on progress. The White House emphasizes a pay-for-performance structure: access to the full fund depends on Iran meeting nuclear, security, and shipping commitments.

The agreement is designed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and reduce risks to global oil supplies. However, the temporary oil sales provision could add supply to an already well-supplied market, potentially pressuring crude prices in the short term.
