Trump Announces US Takeover of Iran's Kharg Island, Escalating Conflict

President Trump has effectively announced a US military takeover of Iran's Kharg Island, which controls roughly 90% of Iranian crude oil exports. This would mark the most significant escalation in the Iran conflict to date.

President Trump has signaled that the United States will put boots on the ground to seize Iran's Kharg Island in the near future, describing it as a "Venezuela-style" takeover under which the US would assume full control of Iran's oil and gas infrastructure.

Kharg Island, located in the Persian Gulf and about one-third the size of Manhattan, handles approximately 90% of Iran's crude oil exports—estimated at 1.5 to 2.0 million barrels per day. If executed, this would represent the biggest escalation of the Iran conflict yet.

The market now awaits Iran's response to the announcement, which could trigger further volatility in global crude supplies.
