Passive equity funds continue to dominate the market. The three largest S&P 500 ETFs—VOO, IVV, and SPY—have reached a record combined $2.6 trillion in assets under management (AUM). This accounts for 17.4% of all US ETF AUM and 11.9% of global ETF AUM.

VOO alone now exceeds $1 trillion in AUM, the first ETF in history to achieve that milestone. IVV follows with ~$860 billion, and SPY with ~$780 billion, both also at record levels. Combined, the assets in these three funds have tripled since the 2022 bear market, underscoring the relentless growth of passive investing.
