Pakistan Sets Up Special Unit to Probe Crypto Crime

Pakistan has created a new specialized unit to investigate crimes involving cryptocurrencies, focusing on the potential use of digital assets for money laundering and terrorist financing. The unit operates under the National Command and Control Center.

Under the new framework, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will handle criminal cases, while the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) will continue licensing crypto firms and overseeing the market. The move aims to split enforcement and regulatory responsibilities.
