Kashkari: Inflation Concerns Persist, Labor Market Shows Signs of Life

Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari expressed concern over inflation, especially in services, while noting some positive signs in the labor market. He also commented on the FOMC statement reset and the move to no forward guidance.

Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari on Tuesday highlighted ongoing concerns about inflation, particularly in the services sector. He also noted that the labor market is showing "some signs of life."

Kashkari characterized the recent reset of the FOMC statement as appropriate for the current economic environment. He added that the committee will have to assess how operating without forward guidance works in practice.

These remarks reflect a cautious but data-dependent stance from a historically dovish FOMC member, as the central bank balances inflation risks with a gradually improving jobs picture.
