The Japanese Yen edged higher against the US Dollar on Friday, yet the USD/JPY pair continues to trade above 159.90 at the time of writing. The pair has not managed to distance itself significantly from the 160.00 level.
Market participants view 160.00 as the limit of tolerable yen weakness for Japanese authorities. Any sustained move beyond that point could trigger intervention, as seen in previous instances when the yen approached similar levels.
