GBP/USD Rises Past Mid-1.3300s on Iran Diplomacy Hopes

The British pound strengthened beyond the mid-1.3300s against the U.S. dollar, as renewed hopes for diplomacy with Iran undercut demand for the greenback.

GBP/USD built on Friday’s modest bounce from a three-week low, gaining strong positive traction on Monday. The pair pushed through the mid-1.3300s, extending gains as the dollar softened across the board.

The move was driven by fresh optimism that diplomatic channels could ease tensions between Iran and the West. Hopes for de-escalation reduced haven flows into the U.S. currency, allowing the pound to capitalize on a risk-on mood.
