Czech National Bank Adopts Hawkish Stance

The Czech National Bank has turned hawkish as GDP growth is expected to slow to just above 2% this year but accelerate again next year, reflecting a temporary slowdown.

The Czech National Bank (CNB) has shifted to a hawkish policy stance, signaling a tighter monetary approach. The move comes as the Czech economy continues to show favorable developments, despite a projected slowdown in GDP growth this year.

Growth is expected to ease to slightly above 2% in 2025, but the central bank views this as a temporary deceleration. Forecasts point to a rebound and accelerated growth in the following year, supporting the hawkish tilt.

No specific policy actions were announced, but the tone suggests readiness to adjust rates or other tools if inflationary pressures or economic conditions warrant it.
