Australia's ACCC Warns Fuel Excise Reduction to Push Petrol Prices Higher from July

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) warns that the partial restoration of the fuel excise could raise retail petrol and diesel prices from July. The excise discount will be halved to 16 cents per litre between July 1 and August 2.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has stated that the partial reinstatement of the fuel excise could drive up retail petrol and diesel prices starting in July. The regulator is monitoring fuel pricing and market conduct during the transition.

The excise discount will be reduced from 32 Australian cents to 16 cents per litre between July 1 and August 2. The ACCC will track retail prices throughout this period to assess the impact on consumers.
