Aussie Slips Below 0.7000 After RBA Governor's Speech, Eyes Key Data

The Australian dollar fell 0.25% on Tuesday, underperforming G10 peers, after the Reserve Bank's governor offered no fresh hawkish signals. Markets now await a critical data release that could determine the central bank’s August policy move.

AUDUSD

The Australian dollar traded just beneath the 0.7000 level on Tuesday, losing around 0.25% and ending at the bottom of the G10 performance table. The weakness followed a Sydney speech by the Reserve Bank of Australia Governor that did nothing to strengthen the case for a rate increase.

Traders quickly shifted focus to an upcoming economic number that could decide the RBA’s August meeting. The currency remains pressured as markets wait for that catalyst.
