AUD/USD Hits Two-Month Low After US PPI Beat, Jobless Claims
The Australian Dollar weakened to a two-month low against the US Dollar after hotter-than-expected US PPI data and steady jobless claims bolstered the greenback.
The AUD/USD pair slipped to a two-month low on Thursday, trading near the 0.6980 level as the Australian Dollar faced renewed selling pressure. The pair was last seen at 0.6994, down 0.15% on the day.
The move lower followed the release of stronger-than-expected US Producer Price Index (PPI) data, which reinforced expectations of tighter Federal Reserve policy. At the same time, weekly jobless claims came in steady, further supporting the US Dollar.
Risk appetite remained cautious, weighing on the Aussie, which is often sensitive to global growth sentiment. The combination of a firmer greenback and cautious mood pushed AUD/USD to its lowest level in two months.
