Anthropic Releases Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5

Anthropic has released two new versions of its Claude model family: Fable 5, a safe public model, and Claude Mythos 5, a private version with relaxed restrictions for trusted partners. The public model uses safety classifiers to redirect sensitive queries to Claude Opus 4.8.

Anthropic has introduced two new models from the Claude family — Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5. Fable 5 is described as a Mythos-class solution but engineered to be safe for general use. It is available via the standard web subscription and the Claude API.

Claude Mythos 5 is described as a "private" base model with softened restrictions in certain domains. Access is currently opened to selected trusted participants, including members of Project Glasswing, where it replaces the Claude Mythos Preview.

The key difference between the two versions lies in the safety classifiers. The public Fable 5 monitors sensitive queries in areas such as cybersecurity, biology, chemistry, and attempts at model distillation. When such queries are detected, they are redirected to Claude Opus 4.8.
