Zaif Renews eKYC Using My Number Card

Japanese crypto exchange Zaif has upgraded its identity verification system using the JPKI service with My Number Card, enabling near-instant account opening, and launched a campaign offering up to ¥2,000 in ETH for new users.

Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Zaif announced on Monday the full rollout of a revamped identity verification system for individual accounts, integrating the government-backed Public Personal Authentication Service (JPKI) via My Number Cards. The upgrade is designed to strengthen regulatory compliance and security while dramatically reducing the time needed for new account approvals.

With the new system, account opening can be completed in as little as a few seconds after submission, provided there are no issues with the uploaded documents, the exchange stated. The JPKI integration leverages Japan’s official digital authentication infrastructure, replacing the previous manual review process in many cases.

To celebrate the launch, Zaif has introduced a campaign running from June 29 to July 31, 2026, offering up to ¥2,000 worth of Ethereum (ETH) to new users. Participants who open an account and set up a coin accumulation plan of at least ¥10,000 will receive ¥1,000 in ETH. An additional ¥1,000 in ETH is awarded to those who also apply for a Zaif Card and complete ¥10,000 or more in payments.

The ETH rewards are scheduled to be credited directly to users’ Zaif accounts by the end of September 2026. The exchange noted that only new account openings qualify for the campaign, and the identity verification process requires a My Number Card. Existing account holders are not eligible for duplicate applications.

Zaif cautioned that the advertised “fastest few seconds” applies under optimal conditions; actual processing times may vary depending on document review and verification status. The company also reminded users of the inherent risks of cryptocurrency trading, including price volatility and potential loss of funds.
