Trade Nation agrees to acquire Stratos Markets’ FXCM UK client book, transfer due late November

Trade Nation has agreed to buy the UK client book of Stratos Markets, which trades as FXCM and Tradu in Britain, under a timetable that completes on 22 November 2026.

Trade Nation has agreed to acquire the UK client book of Stratos Markets Limited, the entity that operates as FXCM and Tradu in Britain, under a fixed transfer timetable that ends on 22 November 2026. A client book is the set of customer accounts and balances a broker holds. The price was not disclosed.

London-headquartered Trade Nation is a spread betting and contracts for difference (CFD) broker authorised by the FCA under firm reference number 525164, and was founded in 2014. FXCM's UK business has served retail and professional clients since 1999.

Jon Noble, chief executive of Trade Nation, said FXCM's UK clients were exactly the traders the firm was built for, adding that they should expect the competitive pricing, familiar platforms and human support its existing clients value. Brendan Callan, chief executive of Stratos Group, said the priority had been finding the right home for UK clients and that Trade Nation stood out for its platforms and service culture.

Transfer timetable

FXCM UK wrote to all traders on 6 October 2026. Clients who take no action will have their account, balance and data moved to Trade Nation Financial UK Ltd. Those who opt out must complete FXCM UK's opt-out form, close positions and withdraw funds. The opt-out deadline is 5 November 2026, while inactive accounts may transfer early in the week starting 16 November. On 20 November, FXCM UK will close open positions at the close of business and accounts will close shortly after 10pm GMT, with new Trade Nation accounts ready at 10.05pm GMT on 22 November.

Terms change for clients who move. Trading Station II accounts go to Trade Nation's TN Trader platform, and MetaTrader 4 spread bet accounts become TN Trader spread bet accounts, since Trade Nation does not offer MT4 spread bets; position sizing shifts from contracts and lots to an amount per point. Trade Nation said the same FCA retail leverage limits and negative balance protection will apply, and warned that closing CFD positions may crystallise a gain or loss for UK capital gains tax.

Matthew Wright, Trade Nation's chief strategy officer and UK CEO, described the price as a "sensible price". Several brokers are understood to have wanted the book, and Trade Nation entered the process in July. The sale has also been reported as part of a wider decision by Jefferies Financial Group to exit online retail brokerage, though that is not confirmed in Trade Nation's announcement, which does not mention Jefferies.
