SBI Holdings Takes Strategic Stake in Indonesia’s Ajaib Group

SBI Holdings has taken a minority stake of about 20% in Jakarta-based Ajaib Group through a subsidiary, making the Indonesian multi-asset investment platform an equity-method affiliate.

SBI Holdings, Inc. has acquired a minority stake of approximately 20% in Ajaib Group, Indonesia's online multi-asset investment platform, through one of its subsidiaries. The investment makes the Jakarta-based company an equity-method affiliate of the Tokyo-headquartered financial services group.

Ajaib Group started out as an online securities brokerage and has since widened its scope into a broader investment and treasury platform spanning both traditional and digital assets. The company serves millions of retail investors and offers access to domestic and international equities, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, crypto assets, stablecoins, commodities and FX, alongside payments and savings services. It also provides over-the-counter stablecoin settlement for corporate and institutional clients in Indonesia.

An Asia-Pacific digital asset push

The investment extends an existing digital asset footprint for SBI Group, which operates crypto asset exchanges including SBI VC Trade in Japan and Coinhako in Singapore, and runs a market-making business through B2C2 in the United Kingdom. Its other digital asset initiatives include an on-chain Japanese equity fund developed with DigiFT, a trust-type stablecoin called JPYSC issued with Startale Group, and Strium, a blockchain still in development for financial applications.

Yoshitaka Kitao, Representative Director, Chairman and President of SBI Holdings, said the partnership fits with the group's "SBI APAC Digital Economic Zone" concept, which is intended to build digital financial infrastructure across the region.

Ajaib Group Co-Founder and CEO Anderson Sumarli said the tie-up would help speed up access to modern financial services across Southeast Asia. He described the region as home to "the next billion people" entering the world of digital and tokenized assets.

The deal adds a Southeast Asian retail investing and treasury platform to SBI's regional network, pairing Ajaib's distribution among Indonesian retail investors with the Japanese group's exchange, stablecoin and market-making operations elsewhere in Asia and Europe. Terms of the transaction beyond the approximate 20% holding were not disclosed in the announcement.
