Introducing Agentic Trading on Gemini

Gemini has introduced Agentic Trading, the first such tool on a regulated US exchange, allowing traders to connect AI agents via MCP to automate crypto trading strategies using pre-built Trading Skills.
Gemini, the regulated US-based cryptocurrency exchange, has rolled out Agentic Trading, a new feature that lets users automate their trading through AI agents. The company describes it as the first agentic trading tool available directly from a regulated US exchange, enabling both developers and casual traders to connect AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT to their Gemini accounts.
The system relies on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that gives AI agents direct API access. By integrating the full Gemini API with MCP, traders can allow their chosen AI to place orders, monitor markets, and manage risk automatically. Users do not need to switch platforms or rebuild existing setups — they simply connect their AI through MCP and define their strategy.
To help users get started, Gemini introduced modular pre-built functions called Trading Skills. At launch, these include retrieving real-time market data, querying the bid-ask spread for any trading pair, and accessing historical OHLCV candlestick data for pattern recognition and backtesting. For example, a trader could instruct the AI to sell Bitcoin when its price reaches $100,000 or to buy when the spread narrows to 0.01%, and the agent will execute the trade using the appropriate Skill.
Gemini emphasized that the tool is designed for a wide range of users. Experienced quantitative traders can build fully custom agents, chain together multiple Skills, and implement complex multi-leg strategies. Meanwhile, less experienced traders can start simply by connecting their preferred AI, using the pre-built Skills for basic tasks, and gradually scale up complexity. As Gemini put it, “The floor is low. The ceiling is high.”
The company plans to expand the library of Trading Skills over time, aiming to enable fully autonomous trading through a diverse suite of models and functions. Gemini views this as the beginning of a fundamental shift in how people interact with financial markets, where AI handles execution and risk management while traders focus on strategy and goals.
