Interactive Brokers Client Equity Nears $1 Trillion in August Despite DARTs Slip
Interactive Brokers ended August with $962.8 billion in client equity, up 35% year on year, while DARTs slipped 3% from July to 4.28 million.
Interactive Brokers Group published its August operating metrics on Tuesday, showing client equity closing in on the $1 trillion mark even as trading activity cooled slightly from the prior month.
Ending client equity reached $962.8 billion, a 35% increase over August 2025 and 6% higher than July, equivalent to a gain of about $56.1 billion during the month. Client accounts climbed to 5.460 million, up 35% year on year and 3% from the previous month, with roughly 143,000 new accounts added over the period. The Nasdaq-listed electronic broker's July figures had shown client equity of $906.7 billion and 5.317 million accounts.
Trading activity eases from July
Daily average revenue trades (DARTs) came in at 4.28 million for August, 23% higher than a year earlier but 3% below July — a decline of about 152,000 trades. The sequential dip followed a steeper 16% month-on-month fall in July, when DARTs settled at 4.43 million, though that reading was still 27% above the year-earlier level.
Balance sheet items continued to expand. Client margin loans finished August at $101.5 billion, up 41% year on year and 1% above July, while client credit balances reached $185.6 billion, a 27% annual increase and a 3% monthly rise.
Beyond the monthly metrics, Interactive Brokers has been widening its regional footprint. Last month it partnered with South Korea's DAOL Investment & Securities to give local investors access to global stocks through the DAOL Fi PRO platform. The broker also reported a temporary access disruption during US trading hours that affected a small number of clients in certain APAC data centres; the company said service was restored within an hour.
