IG Bets The Future Of Options Is Daily Contracts As It Launches World's First 0DTE SpaceX Stock Options

IG has introduced daily expiring options on SpaceX stock, the first 0DTE single-stock options offered by a broker. The same-day expiry contracts are exclusive to IG’s platform and settle at the US close.
Online trading firm IG has launched what it describes as the world’s first daily expiring options on an individual stock, introducing zero-days-to-expiry (0DTE) contracts on SpaceX. The product is exclusive to IG’s platform and is not listed on any traditional exchange, marking the first time a broker has offered same-day stock options of this kind.
The launch extends the rapidly growing 0DTE derivatives trend beyond index products into single-stock exposure. Zero-days-to-expiry options have reshaped US derivatives markets over the past three years, particularly on the S&P 500. IG is now applying that model to one of the most actively followed companies in the world.
The move underscores IG’s push into listed and OTC options as retail demand for short-dated derivatives accelerates. The broker reports that options trading among its UK clients has risen 33% over the past two years, while in the US more than half of daily index options volume now comes from contracts expiring the same day.
Contract Details
The SpaceX 0DTE options are available Monday through Thursday, expiring at the close of the US trading session. They are offered as spread bets and CFDs, and are designed for traders seeking short-term exposure without holding positions overnight. Friday is excluded because weekly SpaceX options already trade on that day.
Elliot Harris, Head of Options at IG, said: “We’re proud to be the first in the world to offer daily expiring SpaceX options. This gives our clients another way to access one of the world’s most closely watched companies and respond quickly to market developments.”
Why SpaceX and Why Now
The choice of SpaceX reflects its high liquidity, elevated volatility and constant news flow — attributes that make the stock well suited to short-dated derivatives. The company’s historic Nasdaq listing has drawn enormous retail and institutional interest throughout 2026, prompting brokers and exchanges to expand products built around the stock. Daily options represent the next step, allowing active traders to speculate on intraday price moves.
Risks and Caveats
Daily options are among the most short-term products available to retail traders. Because they expire within hours, prices are highly sensitive to underlying moves and time decay accelerates rapidly. IG notes that CFDs and spread betting carry substantial risk, with 68% of retail investor accounts losing money when trading CFDs on its platform. The products are intended for experienced investors familiar with options pricing and volatility.
Outlook
IG plans to extend daily options to additional high-profile US companies, suggesting that 0DTE single-stock products could become a broader part of its derivatives offering. The launch may also prompt exchange operators to consider introducing similar listed products for highly liquid equities. For now, IG has secured first-mover status in bringing the 0DTE model beyond indices and into individual stocks.
