IG and tastytrade Digital Assets Executive Moves On After Seven Years

Laurence Willows has left IG Group and tastytrade after nearly seven years, most recently heading US digital-assets business development. His exit comes as tastytrade expands its crypto lineup.

Laurence Willows has left IG Group and its brokerage arm tastytrade, where he served as Head of Business Development, Digital Assets, US, according to a LinkedIn post published on Tuesday. Willows, who had been with the companies for nearly seven years, said he moved on this summer and thanked colleagues. He has not yet disclosed his next role.

The departure comes as tastytrade continues to develop its crypto business. Over the past year, the retail platform added Bitcoin and XRP through infrastructure provider Zero Hash before widening its offering from four to 23 cryptocurrencies. IG Group subsequently reported its first spot crypto revenue, with tastytrade accounting for most of the US activity. Tastytrade also recorded 9,700 active monthly crypto traders.

In his final role, Willows spent just over three years leading US digital-assets business development, focused on tastytrade's crypto offering and the build of tastycrypto, a self-custody wallet. His LinkedIn profile lists the role under both IG Group and tastytrade.

Willows originally joined IG Group in Greater London as an internal audit associate. He spent close to two years in that position and then around a year and a half as an internal audit senior associate before moving into the group's digital assets business as Business Manager, Digital Assets, a role he held for seven months. That led to the US-focused business development position he held until this summer.

The news follows a broader push by IG to expand tastytrade's presence in digital assets, and Willows' next professional move has not been announced.
