HFM Appoints Former Libertex CFO as Chief of Staff After Senior Hires

HFM has appointed Evagoras Kountouris, previously chief strategy and finance officer at Libertex Group, as Chief of Staff, adding to a run of senior management changes at the broker.

HFM has appointed Evagoras Kountouris as Chief of Staff, according to a LinkedIn post published on Tuesday, extending a series of senior management changes at the retail trading firm.

Kountouris joins from Libertex Group, where he served as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Financial Officer for five years and four months. Before that he spent two years and eleven months at Markets.com as Group CFO, a board member and an executive director, having previously held the Group CFO role at FxPro for five years. Earlier in his career he worked at PwC as an Assistant Manager in Financial Services for five years and two months, giving him a career spanning senior finance and strategy positions at online trading firms as well as financial services experience at a major audit and advisory firm.

His arrival follows two other high-level appointments at HFM. Georgios Papassavas became CEO after previously serving as Chief Information Officer, and Mohamed Elgayyar was named Head of GCC and Egypt in August.

MENA build-out

The broker has also reshuffled and expanded its MENA leadership. In December 2025, HFM promoted Michalis Papacostas to Regional Head for MENA. It appointed Jean Nahas as Head of Category in the UAE, with responsibility for overseeing the firm's licensed entity and its Dubai office. Ahmad Qutaishat also joined as Senior Business Development Manager, following sales roles at ATFX MENA, VT Markets and Equiti Group.

The appointments point to a consolidation of senior leadership and a continued focus on Middle East and North Africa operations, a region where several retail brokers have been competing for licensed presence and local staff. No financial terms were disclosed in connection with the appointments.
