Gate Launches Hong Kong Stock Trading, Expanding Its Global Equity Footprint

Gate, the global cryptocurrency exchange, has officially introduced Hong Kong stock trading services, expanding its equity investment offerings. The feature is available after upgrading the Gate app to version v8.23.5 or above, allowing users to access Hong Kong-listed stocks directly through the Gate Stocks entry using USDT. This move eliminates the need for a traditional brokerage account or Hong Kong dollar conversion, lowering the barrier to participating in the Hong Kong market.

The initial rollout includes over 1,000 Hong Kong-listed stocks from both the Main Board and the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The selection covers major companies with strong market capitalization and liquidity, such as Tencent Holdings, HSBC Holdings, CATL, China Mobile, Xiaomi Corporation, Meituan, BYD Company, Ping An Insurance, AIA Group, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing. Gate says it will continue to expand the tradable assets based on market demand and compliance requirements.

Hong Kong stock trading operates under the same account system as US stocks on Gate. Users can manage funds, positions, and trades in a unified manner. To start trading, they need to transfer USDT from their Spot Account or Unified Account into the Stock Account. Unlike US stocks, Hong Kong stocks are priced in Hong Kong dollars (HKD), and prices, portfolio value, and profit/loss are displayed in HKD. Trading is limited to regular market hours, with no pre-market or after-hours sessions. The platform supports core functions including buy/sell execution, position management, order inquiry, and asset management.

Gate Stocks already offers over 10,000 US-listed stocks and ETFs on major exchanges such as NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, NYSE American, and BATS, all tradeable with USDT and supporting fractional shares starting from 0.01 shares. The Hong Kong stock addition is integrated into Gate's VIP tier system: users with holdings of $2,000 can upgrade to VIP, unlocking trading fees as low as 0.023% and access to a dedicated account manager.

With the launch, Gate's equity product ecosystem now covers pre-IPOs, IPO Access, and stock trading, connecting the full lifecycle from pre-listing opportunities to secondary market trading. The company states it will continue to expand its global equity and traditional financial asset coverage. Gate notes that it does not currently provide products or services to users located in Hong Kong.
