eToro Unlocks Cryptoasset Investing for New Yorkers

eToro, the multi-asset trading and investing platform, announced on April 1, 2026, that residents of New York State can now trade cryptoassets on its platform alongside stocks, ETFs, and options. With this move, eToro extends its digital asset offering to 48 U.S. states.

The rollout follows years of regulatory engagement with New York authorities, culminating in the granting of both a BitLicense and a Money Transmitter License from the New York Department of Financial Services. These are among the most stringent regulatory frameworks in the country, underscoring eToro's compliance-first approach.

New York users gain access to a range of cryptoassets within eToro's platform, which also includes educational tools and a social investing community. The company cites research from its Retail Investor Beat survey, which found that 36% of American retail investors currently hold cryptoassets and an additional 17% plan to increase their exposure. Opening the service to more than 9 million New Yorkers is expected to broaden participation in digital finance.
