Eightcap Names Bryn Newell CEO

Eightcap has promoted Bryn Newell to CEO after Alex Howard’s departure, while UK CEO Ollie Rosewell has left the firm after seven years.
Australia-based retail FX and CFDs broker Eightcap has promoted Bryn Newell to the role of chief executive officer, following the departure of former CEO Alex Howard late last year. The move marks a leadership reshuffle that also sees UK CEO Ollie Rosewell leave the company after a seven-year tenure.
Bryn Newell, who previously served as chief information officer (and earlier as CTO), has been with Eightcap since 2021. Prior to joining the broker, he spent 14 years at National Australia Bank as head of technology. Chairman Joel Murphy, who had stepped in to manage CEO duties after Alex Howard’s exit, will now hand over the reins to Newell.
Ollie Rosewell’s departure represents a significant change for Eightcap’s UK operation. Rosewell joined Eightcap in 2019 as chief marketing officer, later transitioning to commercial director focusing on strategic and technology partnerships. Less than a year ago, he was appointed CEO of Eightcap UK, the group’s FCA-regulated entity, with a mandate to expand the business. Prior to Eightcap, Rosewell held marketing leadership roles at ETX Capital (later OvalX), AFX Group, LCG, and IG Group.
Eightcap has also added two senior executives in recent months. Caroline Ruddick joined as chief marketing officer in mid-2025, based in Melbourne, taking over the CMO role previously held by Rosewell. She came from outside the trading industry. Michael Clifton-Jones was appointed chief commercial officer in August 2025; he previously spent 14 years at commercial payments firm Convera and earlier worked at CFDs broker Go Markets.
Headquartered in Melbourne, Eightcap operates regulated subsidiaries in Australia, Cyprus, the UK, and the UAE, along with offshore operations in The Bahamas. The group also runs a retail prop trading unit, Eightcap Challenges. The company is controlled by chairman and former CEO Joel Murphy and lead analyst Joe Jeffriess.
