edgeX set to launch $EDGE token amid transparency concerns

Decentralized perpetual exchange edgeX will launch its $EDGE token on March 31, 2026, with 25% unlocked community airdrop. Criticism arises after the team closes comments on its TGE countdown post without explanation.
Decentralized perpetual exchange edgeX is set to launch its native token $EDGE tonight, with the token generation event (TGE) slated for 20:30 Beijing time on March 31, 2026. The launch follows a prior delay intended to "ensure stability" and avoid further date changes. Spot and standard perpetual trading are expected to go live on the same day, with platforms such as Phemex noting the event as a significant milestone for the derivatives-focused protocol. However, community members have expressed concerns after the team quietly disabled comments on the official TGE countdown post on X, raising questions about transparency around the airdrop and early distribution.
The $EDGE token has a fixed total supply of 1 billion units. Twenty-five percent of that supply is allocated to a community airdrop at TGE, fully unlocked from day one and targeting points holders and NFT holders. The points cap has been set at 7,310,000. The team has framed the allocation as a way to reward real traders, distinguishing edgeX from zero-fee yield farms. Pre-market perpetual futures for $EDGE are already available on Binance with up to 5x leverage, with Binance stating that these contracts will gradually convert to standard perpetual futures once the token is live on exchanges.
Airdrop-heavy tokenomics and unlocked community allocation
EdgeX's tokenomics closely mirror distributions seen in competitors like Hyperliquid. The 25% unlocked airdrop has energized points farmers and NFT holders, but the decision to close comments under the TGE countdown post on X has fueled skepticism. Despite heavy airdrop marketing, the lack of open discussion has led users to worry about unseen allocation changes or undisclosed investor terms. One Binance Square post earlier encouraged participation, but subsequent promotional posts had comments disabled, limiting public questioning of vesting schedules, market maker arrangements, or potential listing spreads.
EdgeX positions itself as a "real trading + revenue-driven" perpetual DEX and has attracted significant liquidity ahead of the launch. According to a December 2025 update on MEXC, co-founder KF.edge noted during a community call that the platform had processed approximately $2.28 billion in 24-hour trading volume and held $775 million in open interest, putting it in the same conversation as Hyperliquid and Aster. A July 2025 report from DL News indicated edgeX's deposits exceeded $100 million that month, a 1,000% increase since the start of the month, with monthly perpetuals volume peaking at roughly $13 billion.
