Coincheck Staking Surpasses 400,000 Users and 1.7 Billion Yen in Rewards

Coincheck's staking service has surpassed 400,000 users and paid out over ¥1.7 billion in rewards since launch, the company announced. The service covers Ethereum (ETH) and requires no active participation from holders.

Japanese crypto exchange Coincheck announced that its staking service has reached 400,000 users and paid cumulative rewards of approximately ¥1.7 billion (roughly $11.3 million) since the service's launch on January 31, 2025. The figures were disclosed in a March 2026 press release.

The staking offering, branded "Coincheck Staking," is tied exclusively to Ethereum (ETH). Users holding ETH in their Coincheck accounts automatically receive staking rewards without any need to manually stake or lock up their assets. The exchange said this passive reward mechanism has become a key driver for ETH purchases and long-term holding among its customers.

Coincheck was an early adopter of Ethereum in Japan. The firm began offering ETH trading on its platform on March 14, 2016, just seven months after the first transaction on the Ethereum blockchain. At that time, the initial executed price was ¥1,484 per ETH. Exactly ten years later, on March 14, 2026, ETH was trading at ¥332,322 on Coincheck.

The staking rewards are paid in ETH. The ¥1.7 billion figure is an approximate yen-denominated estimate calculated using the simple average of Coincheck's daily ETH closing prices in yen from the first reward payment date through the most recent payout.

The milestone comes as Coincheck continues to market itself as Japan's leading retail crypto app, claiming the No. 1 spot for app downloads for seven consecutive years through 2025, according to data from AppTweak.
