CMC Markets Launches Fractional Investing on CMC Invest Platform

CMC Markets has added fractional investing to its CMC Invest platform, enabling clients to trade fractional shares and ETFs from as little as £1 across ISA, SIPP and GIA accounts.
CMC Markets, a FTSE 250 company and global multi-asset financial services firm, has expanded its CMC Invest platform with the launch of fractional investing.
The new feature is available across CMC Invest’s Stocks & Shares ISA, Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) and General Investment Account (GIA). Clients can now buy and sell fractional shares and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), with investments starting from as little as £1.
The brokerage said the value-based approach lets investors put money to work without having to buy a whole share or fund unit. That, it added, allows clients to build more diversified portfolios around an investment amount that suits them, while continuing to benefit from commission-free investing.
Access for everyday investors
CMC Markets said the rollout reflects its ongoing investment in its wealth proposition, with the aim of making investing simpler and more flexible. The company believes the feature gives retail investors more choice and control over how they manage their money.
Lachlan Rourke-Davies, Senior Product Manager at CMC Markets, said investing should be defined by an investor’s goals rather than by the price of a single share. He added that fractional investing gives clients the flexibility to build diversified portfolios in a way that works for them, helping them invest with more confidence while reinforcing the firm’s focus on making investing accessible to everyone.
The launch is part of CMC Markets’ broader effort to strengthen its position in the UK wealth management market. The company has been rolling out features aimed at lowering barriers to entry for everyday investors across the UK.
