Charles Schwab Completes Acquisition of Forge Global

Charles Schwab has closed its acquisition of private markets platform Forge Global, adding pre-IPO investing capabilities for eligible clients and RIAs.

Charles Schwab has completed its acquisition of Forge Global Holdings, the company announced on March 2, 2026, adding a suite of private market investment capabilities to its brokerage platform. Under the terms of the deal, Forge shareholders received $45 in cash for each outstanding common share.

Forge provides eligible investors with direct and indirect access to shares of pre-IPO companies through direct private share purchases, single-company funds, and multicompany funds. Schwab said the combination brings together leaders in public markets and private marketplace transactions, positioning the firm to offer a comprehensive experience for individual investors and registered investment advisors.

Expanding into private markets

Rick Wurster, Schwab's president and CEO, said the acquisition rounds out the firm's alternative investments offering and helps more people participate directly in the growth of private companies. He noted that Schwab aims to bring expanded access, better value, and increased transparency to private markets, much as it historically did for the public market.

Integration work is underway, and Forge will continue to operate its business and maintain the relationships it has established with issuers. Schwab plans to introduce Forge's products and capabilities to more individual investors and RIAs over time. Wurster added that Schwab is "honored to welcome Forge's clients and talented team" and will share more details on the integration in the months ahead.

The transaction was unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both Schwab and Forge, as announced in November. Schwab, one of the largest financial services providers in the U.S., reported 38.7 million active brokerage accounts and $12.15 trillion in client assets.
