bitFlyer USA Begins Service in West Virginia

bitFlyer USA, the American subsidiary of Japanese crypto exchange group bitFlyer Holdings, announced on July 6, 2026, that it has begun offering cryptocurrency trading services to residents of West Virginia. The company opened customer onboarding for the state on the same day.

With this launch, bitFlyer USA now serves customers in 49 U.S. states and Washington D.C., leaving Nevada as the only state where it does not yet operate. The expansion marks a significant step toward nationwide coverage.

The move follows bitFlyer USA’s acquisition of a Money Transmitter License in West Virginia in February 2026. The company said it had been preparing gradually to meet the state’s regulatory and licensing requirements, which vary across the U.S.

West Virginia residents can buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies through bitFlyer USA’s platform. The company offers a web and mobile interface designed for beginners, as well as its “Lightning Exchange” for experienced traders, providing real-time order book trading, advanced order types, and API connectivity. bitFlyer USA says customer assets are protected by cold storage, multi-signature wallets, and a robust compliance framework.

bitFlyer Holdings was founded in 2014 in Japan and has expanded its crypto exchange services to the U.S. and Europe. The group claims to have achieved the No. 1 bitcoin trading volume in Japan for ten consecutive years (2016–2025), based on data from the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association (JVCEA) and company filings.
