Russia registers first Atom electric cars as underground parking ban begins

Russian electric car brand Atom saw its first vehicles registered in May, according to Autostat. Separately, a ban on electric vehicles entering underground parking lots in residential complexes and hypermarkets took effect June 1, per Gazeta.

According to data from Autostat, the first Russian-made Atom electric cars were registered in the country in May 202X. This marks the initial entry of the domestic EV brand into official vehicle registration records.

Separately, starting June 1, owners of electric vehicles in Russia are prohibited from driving into underground parking areas of residential complexes and hypermarkets, as reported by Gazeta. The restriction is likely tied to fire safety concerns related to lithium-ion batteries.
